The Excluded Party Search System (EPSS™)
software provides users with
the capability to search for sanctioned or excluded parties
within the combined master database published by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and
the U.S.
General Services Administration (GSA), in addition
to numerous sanction listings from state Medicaid agencies.
The software is designed to allow users to perform a
quick single search (which is ideal for pre-employment
screenings) or a more thorough batch search (where a list of
individuals or companies is submitted for searching).
To determine whether a group of individuals (or vendors) are
present in the OIG or the GSA database can be a tedious and very resource intensive process.
This is where EPSS™ shines. It is specifically developed to
aid in substantially reducing the time required to complete
the search processes. EPSS™ allows groups of parties, such
as the entire employee list, to be processed in batch mode.
Each employee record is compared to the combined master database of excluded parties. The search engine
phonetically looks for all records with similar names in the
database and presents users with results that are summarized
and prepared for final review by provider personnel.
Originally developed as a client/server application, EPSS™
is now available in both stand-alone client/server
version and a thin-client, web-based version.
The EPSS™ stand-alone version is based on the Microsoft®
Access 2003 and
runs on many popular Windows® operating system platforms. The EPSS™ Online Search Engine is the
new thin-client, web-based version of the original EPSS™
software.
Designed from the ground-up using the latest Microsoft
architecture and technologies, EPSS™ Online Search Engine
provides 24x7 availability, intuitive user interfaces,
comprehensive and powerful searching, automatic monthly
updates from the sanctioning bodies, but yet versatile
enough to let users perform the searches from a PC at the
office, in the car, at the hotel, on the plane, or anywhere
in the world.
Common to both versions is the renowned state-of-the-art
search engine that is widely used by many governmental
agencies and well-known corporations all over the world.
Not only that the search engine looks for exact match in
spellings of the names, it also determines the match based
on the phonetic spellings of the names and nicknames from its
own extensive database of acronyms and nicknames.
